What about hearing a little from the history of this website?
Thrilled about teaching creativity seminars down in Sophia-Antipolis (Nice, French Riviera, February 2016), I was over in London that 2016 spring and had a passionate chat about that creativity experience with my oldest London friend. I indeed felt I should offer this experience to all, and not just some lucky business school students. Back home, I rushed online to buy unleashcreativity.eu (the former URL of this site) – oh btw it had to be a .eu – nobody’s perfect; I am genuinely European before being a national of my country. About six months later, I sat at an old style drop-leaf secretaire to start writing the first page of this site. Yet before that, I spent hours flicking through my 4,500 pictures (and that’s just a sample!) to pick a few for this website.
Isn’t it all about the way we look at the world?
Each picture has a story and I thought you may like to know what hides behind each photo.
Welcome to a little road trip from Paris to Milan via the French Riviera. A Train-Bleu ride almost.
Milan, May 2nd, 2015; beautiful wander from Via Medici to the Duomo through hidden streets with the most amazing art & design boutiques. Looks like I eventually found cobbles big enough for my feet(!)
Walking on the Croisette while living in Cannes one winter day of 2015. Was having fun taking pictures of my stretched out legs thinking of Giacometti’s L’Homme qui marche (1961).
Unexpected teaching break by the flower market of Cours Saleya in Nice, spring 2016, enjoying a cappuccino (a communist rather! as we call those laits russes in NATO) with Rod Judkins‘ The Art of Creative Thinking. A book I’ll share with you when we meet.
One of my favourite illustrations in Paul Arden‘s books Whatever You Think, Think The Opposite & It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be. My favourite books by far! Remind me of today’s quote (7/10/2016) in one of Hannah Barry’s interviews, ‘it’s not what the facts are, it’s how you choose to look at them’.
Again, one of the illustrations of Paul Arden’s books; isn’t it the best selfie?
When you have Yogi tea, be ready for powerful lines … calling for some thorough thinking. Especially when this happens to you at your great-aunt’s, born in 1923.
One morning at We Work Paddington, 7 October 2016, catching the electrician wearing a “creator” t-shirt. And loved the yellow ladder!
October 2013, opening of Mombini, best boutique for mummies and babies (& daddies) in Paris, Paris XVth; loved the joke with the beret & la vie en rose. Go say hello to Elisa & Dac, the most creative parents! And lovely people.
Toilets at WeWork Paddington. How could I resist my camera?! First time I saw a mouth freshener dispenser, offering ‘fresh ideas’.
View from my terrace one day of 2015. In eighteen months watching this lady never did the Grande Bleue wear twice the same outfit nor behaved twice the same way. An unpredictable & never-ending show of colours and movement.
May 1st, 2015 in Milan everyone rushes to the opening of EXPO while at the same time Giorgio Armani opens the doors of his beautiful museum: Silos. While I expected a huge line on the street, I happened to be one of the lucky very first visitors and had the museum pretty much for myself, taking pictures for 2 hours without anyone around almost. A pure delight of couture & architecture.
